Favors Exchanged

There is no question about the mutual benefits available in horse-human relationships. I’m one-person removed from the actual activity, and I experience great energy when I accompany Cyndie on her visits to the horses. Here are a couple of shots I took while Cyndie spent a few minutes pulling burrs out of the mane of this appreciative fellow.

After a while, he demonstrated an urge to do some grooming of his own, and reached out to return the favor.

  1. Actually, it looks rather that the horse is appreciating Cyndie’s perfume – ‘that’ is smelling the air … horses can get quite tuned into certain perfumes, by the way. I think they can also detect what we eat and have clear preferences:-)

    • I could have put that in quotes, (him reaching to groom) as I was trying to give him credit for something he didn’t quite deserve. His “grooming” was more like nibbling after her scarf that was proving to be rather appealing to him. Maybe the scarf smelled good!
