Go
.
where do you go
to find a place
that is out of reach
past the setting sun
behind the things
that are easy to see
under the obvious
obscured by light
holding each secret
as if it would hurt
to let them all go
released to the wind
who knows what might transpire
or what rabid aftermath
would try to show up
unannounced
out of place
and chomping for a fight

Echo
.
.
that echo
of a bird call
sounds so far away
yet prominent
in the predawn silence
that almost defines
this time of day
