There’s More
There is so much more. There’s more to do, more to see, more to say. Sometimes, so much more that it is overwhelming, and appears as too much to deal with. When that happens, one remedy is to just do nothing. Wait it out. Take a breath, lean back, and stare at a cloud for a while. There are plenty more of those to be found…

Stormin’ Home
Yesterday, I made Cyndie wait to leave the lake place until after the World Cup final, so I could watch the game. I guess it lived up to being a championship match, with neither team being able to get control over the other for more than a split second at a time. I had hoped for more entertainment to lift my spirits. I was suffering from witnessing the implosion of Lance Armstrong in the Tour earlier in the day. Luckily, the soccer game ended up requiring extra time, which delayed our departure even more.
Partway into the extra period, a weather alert flashed across the screen and revealed warnings of a tornado in the vicinity of our drive home. If the game hadn’t gone into overtime, we would probably have gotten caught in some threatening weather. As it turned out, we had waited just long enough for the weather to move beyond our route. However, that presented us with an incredible viewing of the back side of a magnificent meteorological spectacle.
When we reached about halfway home, at Turtle Lake, WI, we found ourselves under sunshine and blue skies, but on both sides of our view, there were fabulous storm clouds billowing high in explosions of energy. Cyndie dug our camera out of my bag and spent the rest of the ride home taking a total of 140 pictures, mostly of the sky.
I think it can be declared a worthy effort. I especially like the ones she captured of the sky behind us, because, since I was driving, I didn’t get to see them the first time.

Time Marches On
In a vivid depiction of a moment in time, these blossoms shout, “Here today, gone tomorrow!”
Last night there was an awesome sunset. Filled with multi-colored clouds, it just commanded attention. It bathed the rooms of our house in a luminescent golden glow. It was sheer luck that I wandered to that side of the house to notice. It brought a couple of thoughts to my mind. Whenever I enjoy the opportunity to witness something like a fabulous sunset or spectacular rainbow, I find myself wondering how often, when nature’s dramatic visual events occur, I entirely fail to notice. Nature certainly doesn’t pause for one moment to allow us extra time to enjoy.
When a tree falls in the forest, if no one is there to hear, it’s as if it made no sound.
I am not one to fret too much over being unable to be outside on a spectacular sunny day; I came to that awareness in direct contrast to others around me who tend to make a big fuss about not missing out on a ‘great’ day. I may be severely neglecting the moment of time that is ‘a nice day,’ but as much as I appreciate the wonders of nature, I am disinclined to become enslaved to weather, good or bad.
If I fail to notice a nice day, it has no bearing on what kind of weather will actually emerge. I’m more inclined to take whatever weather I get, when I am able to be out in it, and to enjoy the moment, regardless.
Wordless Image
I have no words to put on this image today, but I just felt like posting it, so here you go:

I seem to be on a picture theme these days. I’ll admit to being a little pressed for time to write. We’re busy preparing to head to the lake place for the Independence Day weekend. I was able to get the lawn mowed at the last minute and we expect to be an hour into our road trip by the time this post is published. I am truly hoping to arrive at our destination early enough to catch the World Cup match between the Netherlands and Brazil. Then on Saturday, the Tour de France cycle race begins! So much sports entertainment that I thoroughly enjoy. It’s a very happy time for me! Why, I’m practically speechless over it!
Hello July
No matter the technological wizardry we humans have dreamt up to control our world, nothing we have achieved thus far has succeeded in stalling the march of time, …hot-tub time machines notwithstanding. So, July is here. We may as well dive into the heart of summer with everything we’ve got, and enjoy it. Happy July!
New Growth
New buds offer inspiration that feels a lot like hope. Green growth blossoms forth in effortless explosions of stored energy released to reach out for the sunshine, singing glorious greetings to the world. The momentum of changing seasons is revealed in the annual expanding branches of our glorious air scrubbing trees.
