what is a lifetime
of changes
that consistently happen
pages turning
with predictable regularity
upon finishing
line after line
constantly yearning
to know what’s around
the next bend
binging adulthood
with insatiable indulgences
asking for seconds
politely
then clearing the table
without being asked
and excusing oneself
forever
