Forward
.
.
we move forward because
regardless how drowsy
it has to be done
I know someone
who writes it all down
composes as she goes
in a way that has life
that is life
the way it should be told
and it stops me
in my tracks
as I realize
despite all the here and now
I know from before
and of what will soon be
it’s deep down in my cells
existentially
but I busy myself
clouding their sense
helping them to be distracted
with their processed cravings
for sugars and complex carbs
and we burden each other
with our petty demands
in a side plot
of the great big grand scheme
my cells and me
dancing forward
clumsily

Sleepy
.
.
while unintentionally falling asleep
I tend to hear things in my head
voices speaking out
or a cat’s meow
which startles me awake again
and then I realize
the sound didn’t happen
didn’t come through my ears
did I make up that sound?
that voice?
why would I do that?
I was awake and thinking
when a blink failed to open
so the brain makes a switch
from thinking thoughts to making sounds
that ears cannot hear
but thoughts cannot recognize
as thoughts
just sounds
that I discover
after returning to awake
and I wonder
if I had stayed asleep
would that sound have become
a dream?

Winding – revisited
If everything happened according to the plan, we should have arrived home yesterday afternoon. This will be the last in my series of revisited ‘Words on Images’ creations filling in during my adventures in Guatemala. I am taking one last day to absorb all that we have experienced in the past week and a half, before endeavoring to compose the tales of our adventure for you to see here in the days ahead. Thanks for following along!
Today, “Winding,” first published in June of 2013.

Simple – revisited
During my adventures in Guatemala, I am taking a break from posting daily. To fill the void, I have rummaged through the “Relative Something” archives for a few previously published ‘Words on Images’ posts for you to ponder anew.
