like the dawn of a new day
by taking one step
in a different direction
to influence one person
with a vocal inflection
speaking authentic bold truths
of this life’s realities
and hearing ourselves
for the very first time
use a voice that’s been chosen
and then quickly flash frozen
crafting words from our heart
that give birth to a new start
