Rain Again
I really should be grateful for the precipitation, but, really, rain? Again? There is nowhere for the water to drain.
That’s not true. Water will find its path. Just not the path I prefer. It is leaking into the garage this time. Why do we ever allow ourselves to store cardboard boxes on the floor? The water is not dripping from the eaves, it is running off in streams.
I needed to re-open the drain channel at the low spot of the driveway again, after last Monday’s big snowfall completely covered it up. The rain was
creating another massive pool there.
Speaking of last Monday’s snow, …roads cleared up right away afterwards, because we have had warm weather since, so it is easy to quickly forget how much disruption there was. Schools closed and airline flights were canceled. On Thursday evening, I put out our trash, as usual, and when I went to return the empty bins yesterday, I discovered they were still full. Oh, yeah, the trash haulers are a day behind all week from Monday’s snow.
One thing about the rain, I don’t have to plow it. Here is how the loop to the barn looks this morning. What a mess:
I’m wondering what my ski trail will be like when this system clears out. We could still get an accumulating mix of sleet and snow, they say, so maybe there will be something on top of the frozen layer from rain, that I can break up into a ski-able surface for another week or two, before it all finally melts to the ground in the coming spring warmth. …Globally record-setting warmth.
I’m curious what the warm season ahead holds for us all.
