Relative Something

Holy cow! It feels like a totally new year today! It is amazing how different a day can feel from the day before. Yesterday was last year, and today is this year. I hardly recognized myself in the mirror this morning. I donned no party-hat last night to celebrate the occasion of it being the last day of 2011, but Cyndie and I enjoyed a fine meal with friends.

For some reason, the milestone that comes to mind today occurred one year ago. This morning, I am able to mark one year since my last haircut. I’ve been told that hair grows about a half-inch a month, on average. If you pull my curls straight, right now my hair is about 6 inches long. Right on target.

We came home from our dinner party last night at an early enough hour to be in bed when strange noises started occurring outside. Someone in our neighborhood was setting off fireworks to mark the moment. Actually, it sounded like it was a variety of someones. Finally realizing what the ruckus was all about, I got the sense that people were making happy noise.
